| Indianapolis
was settled in 1820. Toward the end of the 19th century, the discovery
of nearby natural gas and the start of the automobile industry hastened
its industrial expansion. On January 1, 1970 Indianapolis merged with
surrounding Marion County. Better known to the locals as the Indy,
or 'I cap'. Check out the home of the Pacers, the world famous Black
Expo, and Madame C.J. Walker |
